Bible Studies

"And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach" (Mark 3.14).
On many occasions we believe that the purpose of a Bible Study is obtain knowledge, or to enable us to confront tests in the life, or even to get ready for the ministry; however isn’t true. As the first reason by which were called the twelve, the Bible Study has the same purpose: to be with him.
Simple? Probably. But this contains a truth forgotten in today's Christianity: God doesn't want to complicate life, he simply wants us to have communion with him. The longing of God to have communion with us is so big that He has provided us a powerful and practical tool in the Bible so we can get it. There are not complicated rules that it is necessary to look for. It is not a list of obligations and prohibitions that we have in our hands. It is about the best expression in the heart of God.
What necessity did God have of revealing us their will? None. So the Bible was not designed by the necessity of God, but for yours and mine. Our necessity to be in peace with Him, our necessity to have communion with Him. We will never be totally satisfied until not having an intimate relationship with God, and that is what a Bible Study provides.
It is through the Bible Study that we can have communion with him, it is through the Bible Study that we can have intimacy with him and it is through the Bible Study that we can remain in him.
The knowledge, the force, and the capacity will be a logical consequence of the Bible Study, but never the purpose for which was designed. So next time that you are in front of your Bible don’t think of your own objectives, think of the heart of God, consider the reason for which He has left a legacy of their will in writing, and make of your Bible Study a time of simple and wonderful communion with The Author.
